A fourth patient has died from the A( N1H1) flu in Australia. The patient was a 71-year-old woman from Melbourne. The patient’s death was reported last Thursday, June 25. While the A(H1N1) flu in Australia is mild, it can affect patients who have pre-existing medical conditions before contracting the disease. The family of the patient did not want the medical records of the patient to be released. Australia has 1,509 recorded cases of A(H1N1) as of Friday , June 26.
Meanwhile in the Philippines, the Department of Health has reported 134 new cases of the flu pushing the total number of cases in the Philippines to 861. There has been one death in the Philippines due to the A(H1N1) influenza. Out of the new cases 118 are Filipinos and 20 had travelled abroad.
Philippine Health Secretary Francisco Duque III assured Filipinos that the cases of A(H1N1) in the country are mild and there is treatment for the condition. According to reports, 634 patients have already recovered from A(H1N1) in the Philippines. While the flu is mild, patients who have pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, tuberculosis, cancer and other diseases could suffer from complications.
In Thailand, the number of confirmed cases has already jumped to 1,132. More than 1100 have already recovered. In Malaysia the total recorded cases of the flu has risen to 105. In Hong Kong there are already 596 confirmed cases of the flu. In Macau, there are 15 reported cases of the A(H1N1) flu. Singapore has 365 cases.
