According to the Asian Medical Tourism Analysis for the period 2008-201 the medical tourism industry in Asia will grow at a double-digit rate.
The analysis was done by companiesandmarkets.com. According to the analysis the medical tourism in Asia will no longer see a 4- 6 percent growth and instead see a tremendous double-digit growth rate. According to the analysis the medical tourism in Asia is expected to grow by as much as 14% from 2009-2012.
Thailand, India and Singapore remain the top countries in Asia in terms of medical tourism. The three countries combined took about 90% of all medical tourism earnings in Asia for the year 2008. According to the report India will remain as the country with the fastest growing medical tourism. According to the analysis, India may take up as much as 25% of the region’s medical tourism earnings by the year 2012.
Medical tourism is considered as the fastest growing segment of the tourism industry globally. It is growing at such a tremendous pace that countries are really developing their health sectors to meet the demands of medical tourism. In Asia, although medical tourism is still considered to be in its early stages, the region is already showing tremendous potential and growth especially with the rising costs of healthcare in the UK and other developed nations.
Countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and India continue to invest large amounts of money for its healthcare facilities to improve the quality of their healthcare industries and meet the demands for first-class facilities and highly-skilled medical practitioners.
