The medical tourism industry in the Middle East is experiencing vigorous growth. This is despite the slowdown in the global economy. The Middle East is in a unique position because it has many well-developed hospitals. But because there are many affluent citizens from the region, many nations are targeting the Middle East for their own medical tourism industries.

This makes it possible for the Middle East to tap into the multi-billion global medical tourism market and also be considered as among the the possible sources of patients for other countries. From the UAE alone, it is estimated that patients from the country has spent about $2 billion in healthcare travel.

As a response to the demand for more information on how to the region can tap into the medical tourism industry as well as to understand the region’s unique position in the global healthcare tourism, there will be a Healthcare Travel Exhibitions and Congress to be held at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in November. Delegates from more than 40 countries are expected to attend the Congress. Aside from medical practitioners, the Congress is expected to attract insurance companies, accreditation companies and other individuals and companies that are involved in the health care and medical tourism industries. The Congress will present different expert speakers such as Mr. Vishal Bali, the CEO of Wockhardt Hospitals Groups in India. There are also presenters from medical institutions in Malaysia and other countries that are actively promoting their medical tourism industry.
